We are delighted to add Ruler of The Nile and Magical Miss to our club. Ruler of The Nile was purchased at the Ascot Breeze Up Sales, and has gone straight into training with Marjorie Fife. Assistant trainer Tom Fife says, “He has take to his new surroundings very well indeed, and has shown a great character already. The thing that surprised me most is how fast he is, and will be aiming him at a 1m/1m+. We are delighted to have him in the yard, and hope to help get his career back on track.” Magical Miss is currently in training with Ian Williams and will be declared shortly for her first race. She will run in a couple of bumpers before going over hurdles. Rob Edwards of Equinox says “we are delighted to have Magical Miss in the club. She traveled extremely well in her bumper in June 2017, before just running out of puff a little over the last few furlongs. However, she has really filled out and taken to her training extremely well, and will see a great improvement from her. We have no doubt she will be winning races in the near future.” Shares are available in both horses.
We are delighted to have our second horse in the club with a 2YO ex Nathaniel Filly (yet to be named) out of Gossamer Seed, following on from our acquisition of Rodney After Dave. The Filly will continue its training with Mark Johnston Racing in Leyburn, who purchased her in the Tatts Yearling Sale back in October. Charlie Johnston explained “She has a fantastic pedigree and looks to be a 1-mile horse based on her breeding. She has handled every piece of work we have given her with great ease and aplomb, and we look forward to seeing her develop and running over the summer.”
Equinox Racing is delighted to be sponsoring top National Hunt jockey, William Kennedy. Will is having another great season and is a proven winner, and we look forward to the club working closely with Will going forwards. Originally from Co. Kildare in Ireland, professional jump jockey William Kennedy grew up immersed in horses and racing – his late father Vivian was a jockey and later a trainer, while his mother Kathleen makes racing silks. Will has lived in England for over 10 years, having first come over to work for top trainer Noel Chance. In his second season with Noel, Will took out his conditional jockey’s licence, and he was champion conditional in 2006. Since then Will’s career has gone from strength to strength and Will currently has most of his rides with Donald McCain Jnr, and is on track for another fantastic season after notching 63 winners during 2016/2017. His best win to date was on Ebony Express at the William Hill Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) in March 2015. Hopefully there will be some more big winners to come on board some of our club horses!
